  • 2018 – 2022

    • Opened the $70 million performing arts center in August 2019 with a small, mighty team who produced a vibrant, multifaceted five-day grand opening festival honoring campus, community, donors and sponsors

    • Collaboratively established the guiding framework of GPAC programming, curating seasons including various genres: dance, cirque, family, music (Americana, chamber, jazz, global, vocal)

    • Led the programming and education department, hiring staff and overseeing internships and student workers in arts education, community engagement and artist services

    • Built strong relationships with national and international agents; negotiated fees and engagements; executed contracts; advanced logistics for all engagements, including overseeing all artist services needs

    • Traveled nationally and internationally to attend conferences and meetings to scope performances, represent GPAC and Auburn University and engage with colleagues around issues facing our communities

    • Designed the successful K-12 School Performance Series and education program, including curating the series and building relationships with area educators

    • Provided vision and planning for fundraising: $30,000 raised to cover K-12 bus costs, $40,000 in grants from NEA, ASCA, South Arts and Daniel Foundation; ideas that have brought-in $500,000 plus in donor support

    • Led all grant-seeking efforts: research, idea generation, writing applications, collaboration with university Office of Sponsored Programs, administration/reporting; garnered seven grants, totaling $120,000

    • Designed, produced and facilitated community engagement programming to strengthen cross-sector learning through the arts, including Global Perspectives, Spotlights (pre-show talks), Talkback Thursdays (livestreamed 1-on-1 conversations with renowned artists, including Branford Marsalis, Zakir Hussain, David Shifrin, Alfredo Rodriguez & Pedrito Martinez, John Paul White, Scotty Barnhart, Camille A. Brown and Dancers’ Maleek Washington, and more)

    • Developed campus partnerships: University Programming Council; Office of Inclusion & Diversity; Academic Departments (Engineering, Kinesiology, Architecture & Design, Africana Studies, Theatre, Music and Art)

    • Envisioned and produced the Alabama Artists Series in collaboration with three renowned Alabama musicians

    • Generated programs throughout the COVID quarantine, keeping GPAC in touch with community

    • Collaborated with AU Online to research and design a Virtual Reality musical instrument and arts education program for grades K-6

  • 2016 - 2018

    • Managed the $800,000 education & community engagement departmental programming/curation budget

    • Curated performances and residencies for education, family, and global programming, working with agents to book national and international artists (approximately eight involved artist engagements per year)

    • Supervised three full-time staff members and the hiring of more than 30 teaching artists per year

    • Curated and directed IndiaFest and Celebración – committee-led festivals produced across Birmingham

    • Curated and produced LOCAL – Alys Stephens Center’s outdoor festival celebrating Alabama artists

    • Oversaw education programs: K-12 school shows, arts classes for all ages, residencies with teaching artists, musical theater program for teens, summer arts camps, family arts days, Educator Nights, field trips, a PNC-funded arts & sciences vocabulary-building program for Pre-K children in low-income neighborhoods

    • Established the ASC as a participant in the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Program with Birmingham’s Jefferson County School District and the Birmingham Museum of Art

    • Developed campus engagement with visiting artists via artist workshops, master classes, lec/demos, pop- up performances, student & faculty nights, class visits, receptions and the Global Conversations Series

    • Developed a model for the ASC Student Advisory Council – a committed group who meet monthly to share knowledge from varying perspectives, and design arts events and engagement on campus

    • Developed and produced Inside the Arts pre-show events, showcasing local artists, scholars and community members addressing critical topics related to ASC visiting artists’ performances

    • Worked with development colleagues to cultivate donors, write grants and produce patrons events

    • Collaborated with UAB’s Visual Arts Institute to produce cross-arts programming for schools & the campus

  • 2014 - 2016

    • Cultivated relationships with national and international presenters, leading to work for Pentacle artists

    • Curated the Pentacle Roster – built partnerships with artists while considering trends in the field

    • Worked with Pentacle artists to write grants and develop their programs, contracts, materials & artist fees

    • Managed presenter-artist relationships from initial contact through completion of contract & engagement

    • Represented Pentacle artists at a number of national and international performing arts conferences

  • 2008 - 2013

    • Curated and managed community engagement events surrounding the Global Music & Dance Series: residencies, master classes, workshops, lec/demos, and professional development for local communities

    • Curated and facilitated pre-show Ordway Extras – lec/demos featuring local artists, scholars and activists addressing topics relating the evening performances to local contexts within Twin Cities communities

    • Managed International Children’s Festival programs: 100 volunteers, community parade and workshops

    • Facilitated Máscaras y Milagros: Mexican Arts in Minnesota – a festival celebrating Mexican and Mexican- American arts in the Twin Cities through a committee planning process; 30 events within the community

    • Designed and managed programming for Campus Connections – a Wallace Foundation-funded audience development program engaging Macalester College, University of Saint Thomas and Metro State University Pilobolus Campus Connections Project: engaged environmental studies, film & dance faculty and students Diavolo Campus Connections Project: engaged engineering and dance faculty and students

  • 2006 - 2008

    • Advised and assisted refugee clients through the U.S. refugee resettlement process, and the filing of visas

    • Co-coordinated the first MN Community Health Workers Conference; researched funding opportunities
